Substitute Typeface

If RUB Inter cannot be used for technical or system-related reasons—for example, in certain Office applications—we use Arial as a substitute. We use Arial exclusively in Bold and Regular. The use of Arial is intended only for such exceptional cases.

For languages that are not supported by either RUB Inter or Arial—such as Japanese or Sanskrit—we independently select a suitable font. This font should be as clear as possible and meet the accessibility and readability requirements of the respective writing system.

Character Spacing in Headings

To achieve a striking effect, the character spacing can vary between 0% and −5%. For short headlines, a tighter spacing (−3% to −5%) is possible to achieve a more compact look. For longer headlines or very small font sizes, a wider spacing (0% to −1%) is recommended to ensure readability.

X = 0% to -5%

Typographic Hierarchy

A clear typographic hierarchy provides structure to our communication. It draws attention to key content and improves readability. The hierarchy shown here serves as a guide. Its specific application always depends on the situation.

To ensure readability, font sizes in digital formats must not be less than 14 px. For printed materials, the minimum size is 8 pt.

We choose the line spacing so that the ascenders and descenders of the letters do not overlap. This ensures that the text remains easy to read even in multi-line paragraphs and does not look cramped.
